Asparagus - Merillville, IN
The Good :
The food is fresh and flavorful. The service is great. The curry is really really good.
The Bad :
The location feels like its in an abandoned parking lot on a side road. But, it works.
Flavorful food fusions hidden away in Merillville, IN
So my friend Parke picked this restaurant. Not living up here I don’t really know the best places to eat anymore. So we settled here.
I was thrown off a little by the location. It felt like it was tucked away in what felt like office builds. A pretty cold exterior atmosphere. But, on the inside it peps up! The decor is innovate and inviting and the place itself is well decorated.
I started with the Thai Team while waiting for my guest. It was great. Flavorful. I had two.
We then began with the Crab and cheese crispy rolls and the asparagus crispy rolls. The flavors inside were well defined and mixed well together. You could taste the crab and the cream cheese wasn’t overwhelming like some places I’m sure you can all imagine. The veggies were crispy and yummy.
For the main courses we went with the Hoisin Marinated Pork Chop with Hawaiian rice. And the Red Curry. Both dishes were great. Well prepared, fresh ingredients. As usual, we dined family style and each had some of both. There was definitely enough curry for 2, maybe 3.
Grab a bottle of Chef Tammy’s Sassy Sweet and Sour Sauce on your way out. It’s yummy and $5.
Lastly – I saw this place was rated $$$$ on Trip Advisor. Not sure where they got that. A meal here will run you about $20, so I would give that $$.
