Albano's Pasta Shop - Valparaiso, IN

The Good :

The pasta, the sauces, the fillings, the bread. I didn’t try anything I didn’t like.

The Bad :

It’s a small place so once people start to catch on your probably gonna have to wait to get in the door!

This cool new place is brought to you in partnership by the owners of two other popular Valparaiso restaurants, Pesto’s and Stack’s.  Albano’s is a hand made pasta spot you need to try.

I started out with the bread and dipping sauces. The oil and the marinara sauce were both very flavorful and complimentary. The bread was nice, a crunchy on the outside and soft in the center.

We followed that up with the Lamby Lamb Meatballs, which was Acorn Acres lamb, cardamom tomato sauce, mint, dill and sumac yogurt. Overall, the dish is rated OK by me. The dill was a little stronger than I would like, but the cardamom tomato sauce definitely pulled the dish through.

Then, it was on to pasta. My guest and I dined family style and shared the Short Rib Tortellini and the Butternut Squash Tortelllini. Both dishes were excellent. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the fillings tasted fresh and fit perfectly with the sauces they used. These knocked it out of the park.

Overall, a great experience in a small town that is quickly gaining a host of excellent dining options.
